I thought I was fully awake. I was lying in the bed when my eyes shut for a few seconds. I noticed a rapid movement of my tongue and heard a faint racheting sound just above it.
I saw a rapid flickering of narrow horizontal black-and-white stripes that shifted diagonally before turning off like a television screen, followed by a few milliseconds of absolute darkness and stillness.
I suddenly opened my eyes without moving my body and stared blankly ahead, wondering what had just happened to me.
