Death - Then and Now

In my early teens,
The ultimate question was —
What is this thing called death?

Now, a few decades later,
The ultimate question is —
What is this thing called death?

The question remains but
The tone has changed
From youthful arrogance
To modest inevitability

Then, I felt invincible
Now, I feel vulnerable

Then, I used to question,
Expecting an answer

Now, I ponder the question,
But not expecting an answer
