Across the east and west
Its lustre slowly fading
Devoid of water
The moon on serene nights
Lost its calm reflection
Flowers wept with tearless agony
Leaves ruffled with dreadful crackle
Lands deprived of nourishing potion
All under the same sun
Across the east and west
For a cosmic exchange
Zeus called Indra
The bearers of thunderbolts
The harbingers of rain
The latter was engaged
With the nymphs of the heavens
Showering in the milky cascade
The former then dipped into the vast ocean
His heavenly mistresses by his side
Enjoying waters that flowed through heavens
The well-awaited exchange stood paralysed
As sacred duties drowned in excess waters
Across the east and west skies
The dry soils began cursing the heavens
Some knew about the heavenly pleasures
Others unaware or
Turned a blind eye out of reverence
Sages through holy invocations
Enticing the rain-bringers
The desperate pleas unheeded
As the waters satiated the masters’ indulgence
Yet brought no respite to those beneath—
Across the east and west
