I first saw Jacaranda
in full bloom—
that was years ago
I was taken aback—
my eyes wide open
like a curious child’s
Spring cast a spell on me
like an enchantress
covering me with her veil
as the clock stopped ticking
I stood on the carpet of flowers
amidst the trees
painted with colours—
lavender,
indigo,
violet—
purple or blue
I didn’t know the shades
just knew they were cool
