Letting Go of the Umbrella

In midnight silence
a gentle calling rises

As nature prepares rain
my mind prepares
its own quiet moments

Raining heavily—
I hold an umbrella

With your glasses wet
you rush under it

As your hand gently reaches
mine on the handle—
we hold it together
our hands meeting there

A sudden flash of lightning
and a thunderclap—
jolting our hearts

What is outside
is felt inside—
in quiet tandem
spirit and storm

Walking in quiet warmth—
we take careful steps

In spite of our trust
we’re not yet immersed

A sudden gust of wind
shaking everything—
we trust the wind
and release the umbrella

We soak ourselves
in the pouring rain—
wrapped in its fragrance
we embrace each other

Rain cleanses us anew
we stand fully wet
welcoming every drop
as they slide down our skin

It is our choosing—
we have no guilt
we have no shame
we only have each other
and our love between us

As we dissolve
into the moment—
we become timeless
just you and me and now
